Suzanna Lidegran was born in Ödeshög, Sweden.
She started learning the violin at the age of 5 in the music academy of Ödeshög,
and later on piano and organ. She studied violin with professor Sven Karpe, a
student of Carl Flesch. She made her superior studies at the Royal Academy of
Music in Stockholm, Sweden, with professor Josef Grünfarb, violin, and professor
Mats Widlund, piano, and at the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music,
Copenhagen, with professor Milan Vitek, violino, and professor Hanne Mulvad, piano.
She participated in Master Classes with Sven Karpe, Liana Issakadze and Igor Ozim (violino); Leo Berlin, Gerd Crawford, Kurt Lewin, Amalie Malling, José Ribera, Sven Karpe, Björn Sjögren, Gotlands-Kvartetten and Fresk-Kvartetten (chamber music); and Emmanuel Nunes (composition), among others.
In 1984-86 she was a member of the youth orchestra “Ungdomsorkestern84”, Norrköping, Sweden. Between 1986 and 1989, she worked with different orchestras in Sweden and Denmark.
Suzanna Lidegran came to Portugal in 1989 to play in the newly started “Orquestra do Porto, Régie Cooperativa Sinfonia” during one year.
She was a member of the chamber orchestra “Camerata Musical do Porto”, in 1991.
She postgraduated in Musical Education in the Faculty of Psychology and Sciences of Education at the University of Oporto.
She is a member of the string quartet “Lyra”, which recieved orientation from the Borodin string quartet and which in 2007 recorded the string quartet of Luíz de Freitas Branco, at the Numérica editor.
In 1997 she was invited to the ensemble for contemporary music “Grupo Música Nova”, led by composer Cândido Lima, with which she has been given national and world premiéres of various pieces for ensemble and for violin solo. She recorded, in 2014, the piece “Ni(y)ni(y)ana (écos cibernéticos)” for violin, pre recorded violin and electronics, dedicated to her, on a Cd with pieces excusively by Cândido Lima.
Suzanna Lidegran was a member of “Sond’Ar-te Electric Ensemble”, Lisbon, an ensemble for contemporary music led by composer Miguel Azguime, 2007-2017.
The ensemble has given concerts in several countries in Europe and Asia and has recorded several Cds.
In December 2012, Suzanna Lidegran recorded in Miso Music Records, Lisbon, a solo Cd with pieces by portuguese contemporary composers.
She was invited to play with the ensembles “Opera da Camera di Venezia” and “L’Offerta Musicale” at the Carneval of Venice and in concerts in Italy and in Sweden.
In the last years she has worked with orquestras in Portugal, such as “Orquestra Clássica do Centro”, Coimbra, and with “Orquestra Filarmónica Portuguesa”, among others.
She taught at Academia de Música de Santa Maria, Santa Maria da Feira (1991- 1993), Conservatório Regional de Música Azeredo Perdigão, Viseu (1991-1993), Escola Profissional de Música do Porto (1993-1996), Artave—Escola Profissional Artística do Vale do Ave (1991-2005), Academia de Costa Cabral, Porto (2006- 2007), Pallco, Performing Arts School & Conservatory, Porto (2019-2021) and at Conservatório de Música do Porto (since 1996)
She accompanies her students on the piano.
Many of her students have won prizes in national and international competitions and many of her former students are working as soloists, in orchestras or/and are teaching.
Suzanna Lidegran is reguarly giving masterclasses in Portugal and she is regularly invited as a member of the jury in violin or music competitions.
