Melody Wang, currently works as the associate professor of violin at Central Conservatory of
Music and concertmaster at Central Conservatory Symphony Orchestra in Beijing.
Melody was born in Ningbo, China. She began learning the violin with her father at the age of
four. At the age of ten she was accepted by the Shanghai Conservatory of Music where she
studied until 2003. She was then studying as a full scholarship holder at Sydney
Conservatorium of Music. In 2020 she studied for a PhD at Central Conservatory of Music in
Beijing.
Melody has appeared as soloist and concertmaster with numerous orchestras including the
China National Orchestra, China National Opera Orchestra, Ningbo Symphony Orchestra,
Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Qingdao Symphony
Orchestra and Chengdu Symphony Orchestra in Carnegie Hall, Vienna Musikverein, United
Nations, Tokyo Suntory Hall, Seoul Art Center, Hong Kong Cultural Center, China National
Performing Art Center and Shanghai Symphony Concert Hall.
Melody has been awarded numerous awards including the Third Prize at the Wieniawski
International Violin Competition in Poland, the Third Prize at the Novosibirsk International Violin
Competition and the First Prize at the Kendall National Violin Competition in Australia.
At the age of 20, Melody was honorably granted Australian Citizenship under the distinguished
talent category. Two years later, she was appointed the associate concertmaster in the Macao
Orchestra. In 2023 she was appointed the associate professor of violin and concertmaster at
Central Conservatory of Music under the high level talents category.
